I Believe in Loving Where You Live.

Why This Matters to Me

That simple belief challenged me to ask an important question:

How can I help build stronger communities—communities where my family, friends, neighbors, and future generations can truly flourish?

That question has shaped much of my life's work.

It led me to organize community festivals, champion local businesses and producers, serve in public office, and spend countless hours bringing people together. Along the way, I discovered something that forever changed my perspective.

Communities don't happen. They are cultivated.

They don't become stronger because government tells them to.

They become stronger because ordinary people choose to invest in one another.

That's the key, in my book.

It's choosing to support the family-owned business down the street. Buying fresh vegetables from a local farmer. Picking up a loaf of artisan sourdough from your neighborhood baker. Purchasing honey from the beekeeper, handcrafted soaps from a local maker, or meat raised by a nearby ranching family. It's choosing to hire local service providers, volunteer in your community, attend local events, lend a helping hand, and simply take the time to know your neighbors.

Every one of those choices says, "I care about this place and the people who call it home."

I've come to believe that neighborhoods are places, but communities are people. A hometown becomes home when its people choose to care for one another.

Strong communities aren't built by chance. They're built by citizens who intentionally choose to become contributors instead of merely consumers—people who support one another, each doing their part, and investing in the place they call home.

That's what Loving Where You Live means to me.

It's more than a slogan.

It's a way of life.

It's choosing connection over convenience, contribution over consumption, stewardship over indifference, and community over isolation.

Because when we choose to love where we live, we don't just improve a place.

We help build the kind of community where families flourish, neighbors become friends, local businesses and producers thrive, and future generations are proud to call home.
